Diving has always been a passion of mine, a way to scape the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse myself in the serene beauty of the underwater world.

Recently, I took a leap that changed everything for my career: I became a CCR (Closed-Circuit Rebreather) diver. An upgrade that has opened up a whole new realm of possibilities, allowing me to explore the depths like never before.

I had the incredible opportunity to undertake this training in the breathtaking waters of French Polynesia, alongside renowned photographers and conservationists Paul Nicklen and Mitty aboard the SeaLegacy1. Being surrounded by such inspiring individuals set the stage for an unforgettable experience.

As I embarked on this new path, I was filled with excitement and a touch of apprehension. The idea of using a rebreather—a device that recycles my exhaled air—was both intriguing and daunting. However, I was driven by the prospect of spending more time underwater, getting closer to marine life, and experiencing the ocean in a way that felt almost surreal.

The moment I descended into the water with the rebreather, I realized I had entered a new underwater world. The silence enveloped me like a comforting blanket, free from the bubbles and noise of traditional scuba diving. It was as if I had become part of the underwater matrix, observing the majestic creatures around me without disturbing their natural behaviors.

With each dive, I felt a profound sense of gratitude. The hours I could now spend underwater allowed me to witness the intricate dance of marine life: schools of fish darting gracefully right in front of me, and the occasional encounter with the pelagic fauna. The rebreather granted me the freedom to explore deeper and longer, forging a more profound connection with the ocean and its inhabitants.

This journey has transformed not only my diving but my perspective on the underwater world. The ability to remain submerged in pure silence has heightened my awareness of the subtle sounds and movements around me. I’ve come to cherish the delicate balance of marine ecosystems and the importance of conservation more than ever before.

Becoming a CCR diver has been a game changer for me. It has deepened my love for the ocean and opened up new opportunities for exploration and connection. I am grateful for the journey that has brought me here and excited for the adventures that lie ahead.
